What if we train them and they leave?

Sports teams get this. Sales teams get this. It’s inherent in those activities – fundamentals. Leadership has fundamentals too – pillars that support the rest of the edifice.

“What if we train them and they leave?” If you invested in capability and you lose that capability, it’s time to ask some hard questions, eg, Do we have a culture and opportunities conducive to “sticky” people? The hard questions track back to leadership.

“What if we don’t train them and they stay?” Here’s another hard question: How does it benefit us to fail to build capability?
